Reinforcement cards +_ are cards that can boost one side of the encounter. They can be played after encounter cards are revealed in the Reveal phase, by either main player or by any ally, to increase either side's total (the player's side or the opponent's side) by the value of the reinforcement, and are discarded after use. Reinforcements in the cosmic deck have values from +2 to +5 (or up to +8 if playing with the large group cards from Cosmic Alliance); those in the reward deck can go up to +6 (or even +9 in the Cosmic Odyssey ultra reward deck).
Official FAQ[]
On the subject of being able to play reinforcements on N s (e.g. if a player simply wanted to get them out of their hand to prevent the opponent from taking them for compensation), FFG's 2018 FAQ states:
- Q: Can you play reinforcements if one side revealed an attack, but the other side revealed a negotiate, or if both sides revealed negotiates? A: Yes, any player involved in the encounter may play a reinforcement on either side, regardless of what type of encounter cards were revealed.
This makes it clear that players may play reinforcements on N s. But later on, the same FAQ also states:
- Q: Can you play a reinforcement card on a negotiate? A: No.
Therefore it is unclear whether or not reinforcements may be played on N s. Playing a reinforcement on a N would have no effect anyway.
