Chosen is an alien that may draw new encounter cards if it wishes to during an encounter. It then has the choice of replacing the card it revealed with any of the three cards it draws, or if both are attack cards, they can be added together instead. The rest of the cards are discarded.
Strategy[]
Strengths | Weaknesses |
---|---|
Can reverse losing encounters easily Can squeeze compensation out of a lost encounter |
Dependent on luck |
As Chosen[]
There isn't much strategy to playing as Chosen other than using its power when losing an encounter. If a card drawn will allow Chosen to win the encounter, it should obviously be played, while if no attacks drawn are high enough, a negotiate can be played.
Against Chosen[]
Chosen's power is entirely dependent on luck. If there is no such luck, it poses little threat.
Matchups[]
Chosen is useful against powers such as Sorcerer, Seeker, or Calculator, since if it must play an undesireable card, it can always improve it. With a decent amount of luck, Chosen can also match Macron or Tripler's totals.

Mayfair | You have the power of divine intervention. After revealing Challenge Cards, you may discard yours and replace it with the top card of the Challenge Deck. If you draw a card that is not an Attack or Compromise Card, discard it and draw again until you draw an Attack or Compromise Card. Resolve the challenge using the new card. You may not discard your card more than once per challenge. | A deeply spiritual and philosophical race, the Chosen have become attuned to a higher force in the Cosmos that they call upon in times of need. They are ever wary, however, for sometimes this omniscient power harms rather than helps. |
FFG | You have the power of Divine Intervention. As a main player, after revealing encounter cards, you may use this power to pray for divine intervention once per encounter. To do so, draw three cards from the deck. If none are encounter cards, discard them, and there is no further effect. If you draw any encounter cards, you may choose one of the drawn encounter cards to replace your revealed encounter card (which is then discarded). If you have revealed an attack card and choose another attack card for divine intervention, the new card may either replace or add its value to the value of your revealed attack card, your choice. All other cards drawn for divine intervention are then discarded, and the encounter is resolved with the new card or card value. | A deeply spiritual and philosophical race, the Chosen have become attuned to a higher force in the Cosmos that they call upon in times of need. Sometimes this omniscient power harms rather than helps. |
Notes[]
- The original (Mayfair) version of Chosen was quite weak, to the point where some players considered it a non-power. The FFG edition boosted Chosen significantly.
